"Pursue the Purpose"

Focus is one of the key words in coaching. But, can you be so focused on one thing that you fail to live out God's plan for you?

The writer of Ecclesiastes 11:6 seemed to think so, and he was the most successful man of the land. He wrote:

"Be sure to stay busy and plant a variety of crops, for you never know which will grow - perhaps they all will."

The idea here is to develop ongoing projects in line with your overall purpose.

No doubt, as a coach, you have many opportunities to get involved in one thing or another. Over the years, I don't know how many great opportunities" I have turned down. Not that they really weren't great, but that they would have taken me off course I believe God wanted me on.

Once in a while something comes along that ties in perfectly with that course. When you are offered "great opportunities," always ask the question, "How will this enhance what God has called me to do?"

With that in mind, some of opportunities will really be great for you. Others will have have to be great for someone else. Spread yourself, but not too thin. Pursue only those opportunities that tie into your overall purpose!
