Growing up as a child in Liberia, we were always being taught the Word of God as well as being taught about God. But I hadn't met him personally.

It was during the war in Liberia that a lot of young people, people my age, were dying. I felt that I was nothing special, neither had I done anything to be alive or achieve the life that I was living. It was by the grace of God that I have come through so many situations in which I have almost died. I believe that it was the saving grace of God that spared my life and allowed me the chance to live. That was the time when I really came into contact with God.

I remember asking him, "God if you are really there, I want you to carry me through this war, and I will serve you with all of my heart, with all of my life." Since that time, I have been striving by the grace of God to fulfil my vow and my promise in which I made to Christ.
