| Read, swim, bike, run...read, swim, bike, run... This is the daily routine of Barb Lindquist, a top world-ranked triathlete has established for herself over the last six years of training. |
|
| But something unique stands out in this iron women's routine. In addition to her demanding physical regime, Lindquist always includes daily Bible reading.
Generally an athlete seeks to streamline, cut back and eliminate "extras" to increase efficiency. So why does Lindquist make time to read Scripture every day at such a busy time in her life?
"My first priority is my relationship with Jesus Christ. My second priority is my relationship with my husband. And my third priority is my job, the triathlon. If number two or number three becomes more important than number one, then God needs to whack me upside the head to get everything back in line!"
"In Matthew 4:4, Jesus said, 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every world that comes from the mouth of God,' The Bible is the Word of God, and I have found that by being faithful in my readings, God has provided me with victories in my relationships and in my life which I could have never dreamed possible."
"I have no plans to eliminate the Word from training table. Keeping a strong focus on God has allowed me to deal with the many successes and failures I've encountered."
