Four-time Olympian, 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist

Triple Jump World Record Holder

I have trained very hard and made sacrifices, as has my family. I believe that God gave me the talent to win it. It's up there. But, I don't need to win it. If I don't win I will be upset, but it won't be the end of the world.
I can't remember not knowing that God loves me or not wanting to follow Him. I haven't got a day or a date when I became born-again. It has been a natural process for me. My father is an Anglican minister. He and my mother had a tremendous impact on my life.

I have made it a commitment to serve God in every area of my life. The Bible plays a very important role for it is God's Word to me for my attitudes, my actions and the way I should live my life.

It amazes how many opportunities I do have to share the Gospel. It has nothing to do with my Christian faith. It has to do with my role as an athlete. I try to take advantage of as many opportunities as possible.

I came to the sport when I left the university at twenty-one. I was good, but was not a world-beater. I asked God to show me what He wanted me to be. The fact that I became a world-record holder represents that my faith is a capstone in my life.

If I win a gold medal, I won't bang people over the head with the Bible. I would hope to come across as someone blessed by God with the talent to do well.
