| Growing up, I loved athletics of all kinds, but I chose football because it was the sport at which I excelled. I knew right from wrong and had somewhat of a healthy respect for God, but I thought of Him as a forgiving grandfather who would let me do whatever I wanted with no serious consequences.
After a series of traumatic events occurred in my life, I realized something was missing. I decided to commit my life to Christ - pray and ask Him to come into my life - and begin a personal relationship with Him.
Now, when things don't go as planned, I react differently that I did before because I know that He is in control, I have become stronger as I have learned to rely on God in times of trouble or need in my life or athletic career.
My number one priority is to grow closer to Christ - to put Him first in my life. Knowing Christ and following Him daily is where I want to excel.
