| I was raised by two hard-working parents who believed in God. Such values as treating others the way you want to be treated and accepting responsibility for one's decisions were etched into my thinking.
I viewed God as One who would help, but only after I tried to do all of the right things. This view changed while I was coaching at the University of Arkansas. A close friend who was also a coach, lived a life I desperately wanted to live. I watched and listened to him on the field, in his home...everywhere.
He explained how his life had changed through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Once he asked, "Johnny, if you were to die tonight, how certain are you that you would spend eternity with God?" I wasn't sure. He explained that I needed to ask Christ to forgive me of all my sins. That day, I surrendered my life to Him. He has given me eternal life and peace, regardless of the situation.
