| (When I accepted Christ) peace came beyond all understanding. It was truly a born-again experience. I felt all the pressure lifted from me. That was the beginning of my new life.
Everything I do, everything I have is because of my relationship with Christ. The Bible says you live, breathe and have your being through Christ. I believe if I didn't accept Christ in '75, I wouldn't be living today. I wouldn't have lived and I probably wouldn't have wanted to live. The world had beaten me up pretty good, and I had a rage going on inside in me. My life was out of control, totally unmanageable. I was trying to control it. You can't do it. I don't know how any human being lives without a relationship with Jesus Christ.
The coaches joke sometimes about me preaching, they say they want to hear my tapes. It doesn't bother me. I'm not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ; it is the power of God unto salvation. I share that whenever it is appropriate. The best way is to serve the players. The only way to be a good coach is to have a servant spirit, and that's what I strive for.
God has given me a gift: teaching and relating to people. Lifting people up, lifting their spirits up, giving them hope, bringing out the talent they have, and ministering to them when the Spirit leads. That's what I do, and I love it.
