"I found out in life that you've got to be humble. You've got to stay low key when you're way up there, especially in sports. You can be humiliated at any time. I don't want to boast about anything. God has given me every good thing I have, and He has punished me when I have done some things that were not so nice. You must stay humble.

I stuck with the Expos (when he had an offer from the Dodgers) because I didn't think God wanted me to go. The God who put me in this position hadn't told me to leave. There were some people telling me to leave, but it was not what the Lord was telling me.

The (long-term, big money) offer was awesome, but then I decided to stay and still ended up making the money (with a new contract with Montreal) to the glory of God.

It will pay off. Being obedient to God and my Savior Jesus Christ always pays off. I know He wants me (in Montreal). I don't know the true end of why, but I know He wants me here.
