| My parents were both Christians, and they always had me in the church. But when I came (to Connecticut) I wasn't living the lifestyle that a Christian should live. In my freshman year I got pretty crazy. |
|
| I was one of the craziest guys on the team, partying, chasing girls, and just being wild. I guess I wasn't really happy with myself, and that was a way to escape.
It was difficult; I had a lot of success and I was popular, people liked to hang out with me. The temptation was there, but I got to the point where I felt empty and I didn't want to do those things anymore. I just got sick and tired of being sick and tired.
I love to play in the NBA; that's my dream. But I also want to do what God wants me to do. It's more important to be happy. Money doesn't buy happiness. I love the Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart. No one's perfect and everyone makes mistakes. If people took one snapshot of me as a freshman as a point in my life, that would be very deceiving. It's important to put your faith and trust in Jesus.
I'm bolstered by the strength of God's words found in Isaiah 41:10: "Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you. Surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
