| I don't think any of my trophies or any possessions really compare to my relationship with Christ, because I feel that the Lord has definitely had a plan for me and I've accepted Him in my life since I was a second grader. I really remember that, and from that day on, any plans that I've ever made have definitely been solidified with His blessings.
My mom was a truck driver and she had to leave us for a long period of time. We got moved around alot, but I felt like the Lord had His presence on my sister and I because we were in some situations where we didn't really have a lot of food, but we had money, or we were living with other people who maybe didn't treat us as they should have. I think the Lord continues to bless us, because we were still in prayer (then) and we were good. We have good hearts and the Lord knows your heart. And so I think He has blessed me, because of how I was as a kid and how much I've loved Him. And I reap the benefits now.
I think that when you have the ability to fellowship with other people you create this relationship that's not just vertical, but also horizontal, and that's what you try to provide. The more people you can pull together to praise Him, the more blessings, I believe, rain upon you. When I first started praying with my team or was allowed (to pray with my team), we only had three players that would really go to chapel. Now we have nine players that participate regularly. We actually read or share some sort of reading. I think that our ability to fellowship off the court really helps us when we get into tough situations on the court.
My hope is that in my own particular life, that I'm doing the Lord's will and not my own. Sometimes that's hard, because you can be very much of this world, whether with music or how you dress, different things like that. I just hope that I'm pleasing and I'm doing what the Lord would have me do and not my own will.
