| I think it was all in God's plan to get me where I am today. I'm just glad that the coaches I've had worked with me and given me the opportunity to play and showcase my talents. I've been blessed.
I played in the my backyard. My brothers and I had a little bicycle rim that we put a net on and tied to a tree, and we played on that. That's when my basketball career was born. We were always battling and getting into it, playing hard. I really enjoyed that, and we had a lot of fun. Even then, though, I hated to lose.
I came to know Jesus Christ at age 16. It was time for a change. I wasn't a bad kid, but I needed a higher power to give me inner peace.
I was introduced to Jesus Christ by my brother-in-law, Richard Barber, who became my overseer, my mentor. We talked about Jesus a lot, and I became hungry and began to search the Scriptures myself. God in turn gave me faith and trust that I have in Him today.
When I need counsel, I talk to my brother, my sisters, or my mother, but I'm not the baby in Christ I was years ago, so if I have a questions or need someone to talk to, I talk to Him (Jesus) and search the Scriptures by myself. Christ has given me the understanding, wisdom, and guidance to lead me in the way I should go.
I share my faith with other players, but I don't try to push Christ on them; we talk.
I appreciate everything I have, and God has blessed me with everything in due time. I just pray that I keep the faith, seek Him first, put Him first, and all other things will be added to me.
As far as my career goes, I've come a long way from college, I had my college number retired, and I'm playing NBA Basketball. I'm truly blessed, and I know everything has been God-sent.
