| "What I wanted was wealth and fame. I figured that's how I'd get accepted. When my agent called, I thought, 'Wow, I've got money, and maybe fame is on the way.'
Money is no longer my goal. So many players are fooled into thinking that life is all about making money and being famous. I want to tell people, 'This is why I exist: to turn that glory to God, who deserves it.'
As a result of my searching I became very passionate. I took on anything, was engulfed in it 100 percent -- good, bad or indifferent. All that did was form a foundation of absolute confusion. It was like trying to search for something you needed and you knew was out there, but no one was telling you where it was. If you talk with anyone who filled their life with the things I did, he will tell you he had unfulfilled peace. Eastern cults, philosophy, psychology -- I read everything.
I was conscious only of the fact that I was missing something, and the something I was missing was big. I kept turning from one thing to another.
I started realizing, 'I need peace; everything I've been living for is wrong.' I got on my knees and wept.
God is in control of all things. God raises people up to share his message. One way he does this is through sports, and my purpose is to tell people about Jesus."
