| Today, my foundation is what I learned growing up. I accepted Christ as my Savior in fifth or sixth grade. We had a revival with a minister from California. Even though I was so young, I couldn't just stay there in the pew. When I went off to college, I didn't do the things that the world says are normal for students. It was that support base that I relied on.
Today, I am trying to broaden and learn as much as I can. I recently begun studying the Word in more depth, to learn what it means in my everyday life.
Now my favorite is Romans 12:1-2, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will." I really cling to that.
I'm not too big on goals, baseball wise. I just want to be consistent in this profession. From the manager to my teammates to the fans, I want everybody to know that they will get the same from me - a good approach and hard work. I think if you do that, the statistics will take care of themselves. As far as in life, I try to move forth and understand more of God's Word and live in that. Not to question the why, but to move on to the how I can grow in Him.
