| I've definitely gone through some struggles early in my career; being able to keep the right perspective, the right focus is important. I know God's in control of the whole situation. There's no reason to be anxious because His plan is best by far. |
|
| I guess what I've learned in my life, and I've kind of learned a lot of it the hard way, is the fact that when we take our focus and we put something as a higher priority than God, whether it's baseball or our families, those are things that can be taken away from us.
I had a year where I just wasn't a good baseball player and when my focus was like that, I felt a little unworthy. Fortunately this hasn't happened to me, but people have their families taken away from them. And when we make that our priority and they're taken away, our foundation is gone. You can go through everything in the world, and the only thing that is solid, the only thing that will be there always is a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Salvation is a gift. Free to the receiver, but costly to the giver. His life (Jesus) was the price. Out of respect and gratitude, I'm going to do my best to do what he would do, whatever I can.
When you have that as your foundation, you know that your foundation can't be swept away. It's going to make everything else a lot better, too.
