Building Better Biceps
by Paul and Morgan Hamm, Olympic Medalists, Gymnastics
Here are some insider tips from a couple of guys who have biceps the size of canned hams - and who are pretty good gymnasts to boot.

Secret #1 - Don't Focus on Too Many Things

Paul: "We don't do too many exercises. I don't do any cross training with weight lifting or anything. In our sport, we are lifting ourselves; it is just like lifting weights constantly, so that is why our bodies look like this.

Secret #2 - Handstand Push-Ups

Paul: "Let me think of a good one... well, the handstand push-up... it works the biceps, the shoulders, and a whole lot of different things... but that is one of the good exercises to do."

Secret #3 - Alternating - Descending Exercises

Paul: "Do 10 push-ups, then 10 sit-ups. Then 9 push-ups, and 9 sit-ups. Keep on alternating until you get to zero."

Secret #4 - Dips, Shrugs, and More Handstand Push-Ups

Morgan: "We do different exercises than just grabbing a curl bar and lifting iron. We do different things like dips, shoulder shrugs, and more handstand push-ups. All of that stuff is going to build your arms a lot."

Secret #5 - Strengthen Your Arms with Rubber Bands

Morgan: "We do exercises with thera-bands to help strengthen the arms in the opposite way you lift. This prevents injury.

Secret #6 - A Good Place to Start

Morgan: "My brother can do 15 handstand push-ups by himself. Some people do these while balancing against a way - it is a good place to start. So put your feet up against the wall and do your handstand push-ups from there and have somebody spot you. This helps a lot.
